You may have already earned an academic letter (GPA of 3.5 or more after 6 quarters). Pick up an application from Crystal Watson in the main office.

Why Does Highland Exist?
Highland High School exists to ensure that all students learn essential skills to become successful adults. These skills encompass academic, social, emotional and career proficiencies. At Highland High, educators work interdependently to improve their professional practice through analyzing student performance, aligning curriculum, and engaging in quality professional development. Exceptional instruction is complemented with timely interventions to ensure that all students learn. Highland High School exists as an affirmation that student success is the only option.


Desired Results for Student Learning (DRSL)
- Increase student literacy skills: Increase the number of students passing the reading and writing UBSCT test the first time. All students pass reading and writing UBSCT test. Increase the number of students proficient on the Language Arts CRT.
- Increase numeracy skills: Increase the number of students passing the math  UBSCT test on the first try.  All students pass the math UBSCT test. Increase the number of students passing the Math CRT.
- Improve study skills for freshmen: Increase the number of freshmen passing all classes. Decrease the total number of 'F' grades freshmen receive.
- Improve students’ job skills: Decrease the tardies in the school. Decrease the total absences in the school. Increase graduation rate to 92%.


Highland Students Win Awards
Highland visual design students recently participated in an anti-drug poster design competition. A reception dinner was held for finalists. Highland students won all 3 first place awards, all 3 second place awards and all 3 third place awards. All 198 students earned an inscribed hoody sweatshirt.
